🎨 Painting, Peace & Plenty of Color: Pottery Painting at Shekla Ethiopia 🏺
What happens when you combine paint, pottery, a peaceful garden atmosphere, and a group of creative minds?
A wonderfully relaxing afternoon in Addis Ababa! 🎨✨
Today, my nine-year-old son and I joined a pottery-painting activity organized by Soul Circle and hosted at the beautiful Shekla Ethiopia compound—and it turned out to be such a lovely way to spend time together.
🏺 Choose Your Pot and Start Creating
After registering, we were invited to choose one of the available pottery pieces. There were different shapes and sizes to pick from, allowing everyone to find the perfect little canvas for their ideas.
Once we had made our choices, we could sit down and begin painting straight away.
Everything was already beautifully prepared:
🎨 A selection of colorful paints
🖌️ Different brushes
💧 Water for cleaning them
🏺 And, of course, our chosen pottery pieces
There was no rushing around or searching for supplies. We could simply sit down, relax, and get creative.
🌿 A Peaceful Space for Creativity
The whole activity had such a calm and welcoming atmosphere. Everyone was focused on their own creation, experimenting with colors and enjoying the moment.
It was one of those rare activities that felt peaceful for the adults while still being genuinely exciting for the children—a combination parents certainly learn to appreciate! 😉
The beautiful surroundings at Shekla Ethiopia made the experience even more special. The compound offers a relaxed and inspiring setting that fits perfectly with a hands-on creative activity like this one.
🌍 Four Flags on One Little Pot
My son chose a small pot and quickly knew what he wanted to create: a design featuring four different flags. 🌍🎨
He carefully planned the colors and painted each flag around his pot. The project kept him happily occupied for more than an hour—and I loved seeing how focused and proud he was while bringing his idea to life.
That is part of the magic of pottery painting: every piece becomes completely personal. There is no single “right” way to decorate it. Children can follow their own ideas, explore different colors, and create something that truly belongs to them.
💛 Why We Loved It
This activity offered so much more than simply painting a pot.
It gave us:
✨ Time to slow down
🎨 Space to be creative
🧠 A chance to concentrate on one project
👩👦 Quality time together
🏺 And a handmade memory to take home
Everyone involved was incredibly friendly and helpful, which made the experience feel easy and welcoming from beginning to end.
We were busy painting for more than an hour, yet the time seemed to pass incredibly quickly. That is usually the best sign that an activity has been a success!
📱 Don’t Miss the Next Creative Event
If you are looking for creative, screen-free activities for children—or simply a peaceful way to spend time together as a family—keep an eye on Soul Circle and their upcoming events. Their thoughtful organization made it easy for everyone to relax and enjoy the creative process.
We also recommend checking out Shekla Ethiopia. With its lovely compound and calm atmosphere, it is a beautiful place to discover, create, and take a little break from the busy city. 🌿
Here’s to afternoons filled with color, creativity, and pots that tell their own little stories! 🎨🏺💛
